Kindred Works provides a nationwide portfolio of housing projects with a focus on obtainable rental homes and gathering spaces. Chandos teams across the country are partnering with Kindred Works on pilot projects to meet the critical affordable housing need by repurposing United Church of Canada properties to meet broad community demands. Kindred Works is aiming to build approximately 34,000 homes from coast to coast over the next 15 years and are targeting 30 per cent of all projects to be Universal Design, meeting accessibility needs.
Our team in Toronto is currently in construction on the Regent Park development, in Orillia, ON, converting a former United Church of Canada property into a three-block housing development with 16 units in each block. Each unit is three stories, and the community will be 48 units total. The community will also have a communal garden.
Future projects we’re engaged on include housing developments in Hamilton, Ottawa, Toronto, Scarborough, and St. Catherines. We have aligned goals and shared values with Kindred Works, specifically in sustainable development. Both companies are aiming to be net zero.
