PRIORITY

Top of mind

The construction industry is consistently one of Canada's most dangerous industries to work in. That's why, for us, safety is intertwined in everything we do. It's an undertone in our values, goals, and company missions. For us, there is no compromise when it comes to ensuring our employees and partners work in safe conditions and follow all safety protocols. We're all in this together.

DEDICATED

Company-wide commitment

A safe workplace is one where we all look out for one another. We empower our teams to speak up. Because everyone deserves to feel completely safe and go home to their families and friends at the end of each day.

To reinforce measures, we keep clear and frequent lines of communication with one another. Our site teams across the country hold daily site inspections, walkabouts, and weekly safety meetings with their teams. This ensures that safety is top of mind for all employees, and procedures are followed by everyone.

We host weekly, company-wide safety moments, and send out monthly newsletters to the entire organization that include statistics, tips, and updates on our initiatives. Our senior operation team and safety teams meet on a weekly basis to ensure that safety is discussed, reinforced, and elevated on a national level.

Our partners undergo onboarding to familiarize themselves with our safety requirements on each site. Trades, partners, and clients participate in site-specific orientation, watch Chandos safety videos, sign paperwork, and complete a small quiz to ensure a comprehensive understanding of safety precautions.

Building a culture of safety starts with each one of us. Following the procedures we have in place while always looking for opportuntities for continuous improvement. We rigorously audit, asses, and adapt policies and procedures to upkeep the highest standards of safety.

Our teams know that consistency is the key to certainty. If you step onto a Chandos worksite or office from Vancouver to Ottawa, you’ll find that every safety procedure is followed accurately and implemented every step of the way. And our drive for continuous improvement is championed across all levels.

The ultimate goal of a safe and healthy workplace is to prevent incidents and injuries. And it takes everyone to accomplish that. Everyone’s input and suggestions are valid because they can provide a learning opportunity and build a safer working environment.
