Blatchford District Energy Centre

Chandos has built one of the largest residential geoexchange fields in Canada.

In partnership with the City of Edmonton and Blatchford, the downtown development aims to be one of the largest sustainable communities in the world. The completion of the geoexchange field - part of a District Energy Sharing System (DESS) that will provide heat, cooling, and hot water to buildings in the community - is an important step towards making Blatchford's vision a reality.

The community also won the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Sustainable Community Award. It showcases and celebrates environmental initiatives and sustainability trailblazers in municipalities across Canada.
