This is the largest integrated municipal fleet operation in Canada and maintains more than 4,500 vehicles. The facility was operational during construction and required in-depth coordination and organization from the entire project team.
Our work involved extensive and challenging renovations to an existing 106,000 sq. ft. building. We were required to convert it from a steel fabrication shop to a bus and fleet bodywork facility with the focus on environmental sustainability. The work included structural modifications, facade modifications, and concrete trench drain installation. Also included was the installation of specialized equipment such as in-slab hoists, spray booths, hose reels, air supply, and pull pots.
Using virtual design, we worked with the design team and manufacturers to ensure that all of the systems in the facility integrated properly. From hoist cassettes to oil recycling systems our approach ensured success.
The original budget for this project was prepared by one of our competitors. We worked with our client to reduce the budget by nearly $3 million so that the project was feasible and provided value to the taxpayers.
