Brooks Library and Leisure Centre

This project was a design-build addition of a new field house and library; the demolition of a 60-year-old rink; and renovation to the existing recreation centre. The facility remained fully operational during construction.

Once work got underway, we discovered that the roof of the existing facility required major repairs – we completed this 40 percent under budget.

The major challenges that we successfully overcame included relocating the main electrical transformer located in the centre of the new field house and constructing the facility to work with the existing city drainage system. This required raising the fieldhouse approximately three feet to get proper gravity drainage.
