The SunRise Building

In partnership with Avenue Living, M O George Architect, and Claroscuro Architecture, we are excited to share that we are completed major upgrades to The SunRise Building in downtown Edmonton, Alberta. The 12-storey, 11,400 sq. ft. tower was originally built in 1970, and will be transformed into a modern, affordable, and environmentally sustainable mixed-use building.

Our national special services group (SSG) completed a retrofit on the building, which included significant abatement and remediation, mechanical and electrical upgrades, updated windows, full building envelope improvements, and more. Suites in high rise also received LED lighting upgrades, updated bathrooms and kitchens, new modern amenity spaces including a shared library, gym, roof top patio, a games and movie room, as well as upcoming new commercial spaces.

The exterior upgrades focus on sustainability. The SunRise is now wrapped in solar cladding that will double as public art and include an 85 ft. tall mural designed by local Indigenous artist, Lance Cardinal, which has been awarded the Guiness World Record for the largest solar panel mural producing electricity.
