Gary W Harris Celebration Plaza

The Gary W Harris Celebration Plaza is now one of Red Deer’s iconic gathering spaces, serving as a central hub for community connection and events.

Our team worked closely with the client to understand their vision for a vibrant and welcoming downtown celebration space. Through that collaboration, the project evolved into a place designed not only for the 2019 Canada Games, but also for ongoing community use.

The plaza was thoughtfully developed to support a wide range of events and activities, creating a flexible space that can bring people together throughout the year. A key focus of the project was ensuring the plaza is inclusive and accessible for all users, reinforcing its role as a space that reflects and welcomes the broader community.

This project also aligns with the renovation work previously completed at Central School. Together, these efforts contribute to the continued revitalization of the surrounding area, supporting a more active and connected downtown environment. By linking these projects, the work helps strengthen the sense of place and provides complementary spaces that can be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.

The plaza is dedicated to the volunteers of central Alberta, recognizing the significant role they play in building and supporting the community. This dedication is reflected in the purpose and atmosphere of the space, which is designed to bring people together and celebrate shared experiences.

As part of our commitment to the community, we also provided sponsorship to the plaza. This contribution reflects our ongoing support for initiatives that create meaningful, accessible spaces and enhance the communities where we live and work.
