Lumby Seniors Housing

In Lumby, British Columbia, we built a three-storey, 20-unit building that provides safe, accessible housing for seniors who live independently. The single-bedroom units are adaptable, with three accessible apartments, accessible common spaces, vehicle parking, and an enclosed scooter parking room on the main floor. Designed to support aging in place, this living space helps seniors feel safe, secure, and connected to their community.

The Lumby and District Senior Citizens Housing Society operates the building as part of a larger project that aims to deliver 77,000 homes throughout the North Okanagan region. The 5,500-sq.-ft. facility is located close to local amenities, including health-care facilities, community halls, and municipal buildings. Its central location helps residents maintain their independence while staying connected to essential services and community supports.

The new facility is climate resistant. Extreme temperatures can have significant effects on seniors, so the building includes mechanical cooling and heating systems, through-wall heat pumps, and split-system heat pumps in each residential unit.
