We delivered the OKIB Cultural Immersion School in partnership with the Okanagan Indian Band, a 26,200 sq. ft. elementary school designed to serve the surrounding 2,000+ person community. The project supports a long-term federal strategy to improve education infrastructure in First Nations communities nationwide.
Designed in collaboration with Elders and consultants, the single-storey facility prioritizes an inclusive learning environment where students can embrace the Sqilxw language and culture alongside academic achievement. Located at the head of Okanagan Lake, the school provides a range of services for band members, including education, health care, social services, and early childhood programming.

The completed wood-frame building includes:
- 12 classrooms
- Library
- Kitchen and cafeteria
- Gymnasium
- Administration offices
- Cultural ancillary spaces
- Outdoor amenities, including a sports field and play area
The school supports the Okanagan Indian Band in expanding cultural curriculum while providing a specialized learning environment for students from kindergarten through grade seven.
