Emergency and
essential services
Delivering facilities that communities depend on when it matters most
Emergency and essential service facilities support some of the most critical functions in a community. Fire halls, police stations, and healthcare facilities must operate reliably at all times, often under high-pressure conditions where safety and resilience are essential. Design and construction decisions directly influence how these facilities perform under real-world conditions.
Our teams bring experience delivering essential service facilities that balance complex technical requirements with long-term operational needs. By working collaboratively with owners, operators, and consultants from the beginning, we help manage risk, maintain continuity of service, and deliver facilities that support emergency response and patient care from day one.
Facilities that support safe, reliable, patient care
Explore our emergency and essential service projects
Maplewood Fire and Rescue Centre
Built in North Vancouver, this 48,000 sq. ft. fire and rescue centre supports emergency response and command services for surrounding communities. Construction required environmental protection and remediation of a former landfill site to meet operational and regulatory requirements.
Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital Emergency Wing
As an expansion to an operating hospital, this project delivered a new emergency department to increase capacity and improve patient flow. The build was carefully sequenced to maintain continuous hospital operations while delivering dedicated trauma and ambulance facilities.
Barrie-Simcoe Emergency Services Campus
Bringing police, fire, and paramedic services into one facility, this project provides a consolidated emergency services campus for the region. Constructed through an IPD model, the campus relied on BIM coordination and phased sequencing to support ongoing operations.
Oakville Fire Station 8
Designed to serve frontline responders, this single-storey fire hall provides modern emergency response facilities for the Town of Oakville, Ontario. Constructed using an IPD approach, the building incorporates mass timber construction and high-performance systems to support reliable operations.

What sets us apart
EXPERIENCE
Emergency and essential service facilities require careful coordination between design and construction, with a clear focus on operational needs. Our project teams understand how layouts, building systems, and construction sequencing come together to support safety and response readiness, so facilities function as intended from day one.
CERTAINTY
We work closely with owners, consultants, and operational stakeholders from the start to align project scope and delivery requirements. Early collaboration helps identify and resolve issues sooner and manage risk, supporting predictable schedules and outcomes for facilities where reliability is critical.
SUSTAINABILITY
Our teams consider regional requirements and climate conditions alongside long-term operational demands when delivering emergency and essential service facilities. This approach supports durable, energy-efficient buildings that operate safely and reliably throughout their service life.
COMMUNITY
Because our teams work locally, we understand the broader service environment from municipal leadership and operators to frontline staff, and trade partners. We collaborate closely to deliver facilities that reflect local priorities and support the people who rely on them every day.
