The extraordinary circumstances of COVID-19 have put us all into uncharted territory.
We know that managing the constant changes and evolving situation can be uneasy but that by working together we will find a way to move forward.
The health and safety of our employees, families, and industry partners remains of the utmost importance. As a company, we are taking several steps to ensure this including implementing strict self-isolation guidelines, increased sanitation, and social distancing measures.
Currently, we are fully operational, and we continue to develop and implement preparedness plans to mitigate potential short and long-term impacts to our business and projects.
We’ve established a COVID-19 Task Force that is dedicated to responding to this rapidly changing situation and empowered them to make company wide recommendations and action plans.
We’ve established three core principles to guide all of our decisions:
- We will follow the mandates of Canadian health officials.
- We will prioritize the safety of employees, trade partners, and clients above all else.
- We will mitigate losses to productivity whenever possible.
Decisions we make are driven firstly by the need to protect people’s health and safety followed by keeping project schedules and productivity on track. Our culture of continuous improvement and broad adoption of lean principles and collaborative techniques will help us find creative solutions, quickly.
As far as our office and administrative functions, we are well-equipped to work remotely without negatively impacting our service to clients and partners. We’ve implemented a temporary remote work program that includes rotating approximately one third of staff in our offices, along with essential roles like Project Directors.
In addition to adopting a company wide self-isolation policy for employees, sub-trades and other partners, we’ve established protocol for our jobsites should an asymptomatic person enter the premises. We have also implemented access restrictions on our sites and adjusted work sequencing to further enable social distancing. Review the full list of site-specific protocols we've adopted across all Chandos construction sites.
We are doing everything we can to navigate these unprecedented circumstances. And, we know that with your help, understanding, and collaboration, we will overcome the challenges ahead. We can join together to raise awareness. Remind others to follow the precautions laid out by Canadian governments and international health authorities.
We’re in this together so let’s keep each other safe by being proactive and preventing the spread of COVID-19.Back to blog
